To keep abreast of current requirements for the design and registration of boilers, pressure vessels and pressure piping systems in Alberta, Temec Director of Engineering Mark Grindlay attended the Alberta Boiler Safety Authority (ABSA) Annual Code Update Seminar in Calgary on October 14, 2016.
Mark reports that the full day seminar was very useful. Highlights included the presentation of changes to ASME B31.1 Power Piping, the discussion of pneumatic testing requirements, and an overview of the potential issues with the current generation of SA105 forgings: possible causes, and the use of purchasing specifications over and above ASTM requirements to mitigate the issues.
